A yummy, chewy slice that is quick and easy to make. My kids love it in their lunch boxes!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 125 g butter
  • 1/3 cup golden syrup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • Equipment

    • 20cm x 30cm slice pan
    • Method

      • STEP 1Preheat oven to 170C (150C fan forced). Line a slice pan with baking paper, with sides extending over long sides.
      • STEP 2Combine flour, oats and coconut in a large bowl, make a well in the centre.
      • STEP 3Combine butter, golden syrup and brown sugar in a small saucepan. Stir over a medium heat until butter melts and mixture is smooth.
      • STEP 4Add the bicarbonate of soda and stir to combine.
      • STEP 5Pour wet mixture over dry ingredients and stir until evenly combined.
      • STEP 6Spread into prepared pan and smooth with the back of a spoon.
      • STEP 7Bake for 20 minutes. Cool in pan.
      • STEP 8Lift out using the paper and cut into 20 bars. Keep in an air tight container.
