All-in-One Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
- 175 g margarine
- 175 g brown sugar
- 3 tbs cocoa powder
- 2 tbs boiling water
- 3 large egg beaten
- 175 g self-raising flour sieved
- 50 g ground almonds
Filling
- 150 mls whipped cream
Topping
- 125 g milk chocolate melted
- 1 cup glace cherries *to decorate
Method
- STEP 1Preheat oven to 180C.
- STEP 2Grease and line the base of 2 x 16 cm sandwich pans. Blend and cool cocoa with boiling water.
- STEP 3Place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and beat with a wooden spoon or electric mixer until well mixed.
- STEP 4Do not over beat.
- STEP 5Place half the mixture into each of the preheated pans and bake for 25-35 minutes.
- STEP 6Turn out and cool on a wire rack.
- STEP 7To decorate: Sandwich the cooled cakes together with the whipped cream.
- STEP 8Spread melted chocolate over cake.
- STEP 9Decorate with the glace cherries or walnuts.
